New York Cordwainer’s Collective Meet Up

Time to mingle, catch up with friends, etc.
Snacks and drinks are provided at 7pm. 
Please bring some drinks/food/cups/plates/plants/anything to contribute to the gathering.
And it'll be great if you can RSVP so we know how little, or lots to prep.
$5 suggested donation at the door.

The New York Cordwainers Collective (NYCC) is a collaborative network of New York area shoemakers, shoe designers, and other footwear and related industry professionals. The NYCC was created to provide support for its members and their respective projects through the collective knowledge base, varied skill sets , and combined contacts of the group. This group serves as the official channel of communication between its members and for hosting the group's discussion threads, NYCC event calendars, job listings, and links of interest with regards to shoemaking, the footwear industry, and its related disciplines. The NYCC also strives to promote and preserve traditional skills and knowledge as well as the ideals of quality, responsibility, and innovation in the industry.

PROGRAMME for Oct. 20th:
Misawa Noriyuki,  bespoke shoemaker from Japan,  will be visiting NYC during that time.

  • 4-6pm He will show us his bespoke work as well as his artwork and show the process of making the handwelted shoes (cooking lesson style, so, not hands-on, but can see very closely.). and Meet and Greet. It's at an early hour, so it will be more intimate, and perfect to ask a ton of questions.
  • 6:30pm - 7:30pm Shoes/Leather maintenance: How to High-Shine. Bring one pair of black or brown shoes to polish. 20 mins or so of demo and explanation, and 30 minutes of you practice/testing. Hands-on. $10 suggested donation at door.
  • 7pm-9pm will be the mixer. Time to mingle, catch up with friends, etc. $5 suggested donation.
