Most date night lists for Brooklyn look alike: a cocktail bar, a pottery wheel, a walk over the bridge. If you want an evening you will still bring up next year, make something together.
Our studio in East Williamsburg runs short classes that work for two. No experience is needed. We supply the leather, the tools and a teacher, and you work side by side at the same bench.
Which class to book
- Card holder or pouch workshop. Three hours. You each hand-sew a leather card holder or pouch, and can foil-stamp it with initials or a word. The easiest pick if you want to leave with a finished piece, and a good one to swap at the end.
- Leather belt class. Three hours. You choose the leather and buckle, then cut, edge-paint and stitch a belt to fit. Pick this one if you both like using tools. Book at least five days ahead so you get the full choice of leathers.
- 2-hour intro to shoemaking. Two hours. You learn how a shoe is built, what a last is and how to measure your own feet, then start sketching a pair. Good for a couple who are curious about making shoes and might come back for a full class.
Booking as a pair
Book two seats on the same date. Group sessions for the leather classes are on the calendar. If none of the dates suit you, ask for a private class for two and we will find a day over email. The intro class runs as a group once at least two people sign up, so the two of you are enough.
Getting here
The studio is at 87 Richardson St, 3rd Floor, Unit 300G. It is about a seven-minute walk from Lorimer St–Metropolitan Av (L, G) or Graham Av (L), and there are plenty of places nearby for dinner afterwards.
Giving it as a gift
If the date is a surprise, a gift card covers any class. It is emailed straight away and never expires, so the two of you can pick the class and the date together.
