An experience makes a good gift because nothing has to fit or match. The trick is picking one the person will actually use. Most people on your list are one of two types.
For the beginner: a class
Someone who likes their shoes, bags or clothes, but has never made any of them. Give them a class where they leave with something finished.
- A card holder or pouch workshop: three hours, hand-sewn leather, personalised with foil stamping. The easiest first class.
- A leather belt class: three hours. They pick the leather and buckle and make a belt to fit.
- The 2-hour intro to shoemaking: two hours. They learn how a shoe is built and start designing their own pair.
- A 3-day sneaker class: the big one. They make a pair of sneakers from scratch, start to finish.
For the crafty person: supplies
Someone who already sews, knits, carves or builds, and has more ideas than materials. They know what they want to make; give them the materials to make it.
- Lasts: the foot-shaped forms every shoe is built on, and the first thing a home shoemaker needs.
- Tools and supplies: the shoemaking and leatherworking tools and supplies we use in the studio.
- Soles and soling: for someone who has made uppers and wants to finish a pair.
One card for either
Not sure which type they are? Our gift card works on any class, workshop or supplies in the shop. Choose any amount from $25 to $2,000. It is emailed as soon as you pay, can be spent over several orders, and never expires.
