Intro 3D printing footwear with SLEM

VISITING FROM THE NETHERLANDS, SLEM is an international innovation and education institute for footwear.

For all of you who want to learn how to print wearable shoes, outsoles, buckles, lasts and all other footwear related objects in flexible Filaflex or any other kind of filament! Our method is quick and flexible and delivers high quality at low cost!

SLEM's  two-day introduction course starts with a general introduction about the various kinds of 3D printing, what they are used for and how much these cost. Then we start experimenting with Meshmixer, a free 3D design program that will help you create your first shoes and/or outsoles in a very quick and easy way. You can also bring your own 3D files if you already have them.

We print your first design overnight, so you can analyze the result in class the next day, when we take an in-depth look at slicer software, the programs that prepare your file for the printer and determine how your object will feel and behave.

After these two days you know enough to start printing on your own. We do not sell 3D printers, but we have several different ones are happy to advise you which one(s) might be best for you.
