In this one-day, 5-hour course, (Or break up into two 2.5-hour sessions) you will have the opportunity to create a pair of soft and stylish leather moccasin boots for your little ones.

These are designed specifically for babies aged 6 - 12 months and new walkers aged 12 - 18 months, and toddlers 18-24 months making them the perfect addition to your child's wardrobe.

During the class, all the necessary materials will be provided, including leather, thread, and any necessary tools.

You can take home the paper pattern that you used during class + your finished pair of baby moccasins!

6-Day Intensive Shoemaking Workshop

5-Day Intensive Shoe / Boot / Sneaker Making Workshop

A 5-day intensive workshop making shoes, boots, or sneakers of your own design!

This will be a cemented shoe construction class, and anyone: beginners to second-timers, to advanced students can take the course. Once you sign up for a class, schedule a private session on dates of your own choice. We will accommodate as much as possible.

If you have a specific last you’d like to use, like a heel height and toe shape, we can help you custom order a last with you. So please reach out ahead, ample time, for this to happen. Last development cost is not included in the class.

If you wish to deconstruct and reconstruct a shoe, please reach out ahead of time to discuss the original shoe.

The hours are 10am - 5pm Or 9:30am-4:30pm

If you cannot do full days, and prefer half-day sessions, please let us know. We will be flexible.

DETAILS OF CLASS:

First day of the class: You will learn about lasts, how to measure your feet, how to draw your designs. The afternoon of the first day, or, the second class, the afternoon of the first day, you will make patterns of your designs by taping up the last, drawing on the last and creating paper patterns.

Second day, you will finish your patterns, and start to cut your leathers from your pattern, prepare to sew, and start stitching, using a high-post sewing machine. Even a first-time-sewer will learn how to use the machines, do not worry!

Third day you will finish stitching the uppers.

Fourth day, you will start lasting your uppers. First the lining, then the uppers, in between you will put toe puffs and heel counters.

Fifth day, you will sole your shoes. It can be a pre-made sole unit, or you can stack your own. If you are finished on the fifth day, great!

Materials included in this five or six day course are: Midsoles, Shanks, Toe Puffs, Heel counters. Upper and lining leathers available in the studio are also included for your pair, as well as variety of insole and outsole materials.

If you’d like, we can send you on a material shopping trip. Materials purchased on the trip will be the student's responsibility. Any materials that we don't have at the space, the student will have to purchase themselves. Please let us know ahead, and I can send you shop list.

You will learn how to use the sewing machine, + hand-sewn techniques. You will walk out with a finished pair of moccasins.

In this 1.5-day course (or a long one day), you will learn the basics of shoemaking, but only making half of it (the front half!) in a form of Mules- You will modify a Standard Mule pattern to your design, trace and cut material, last the upper, insert toe puffs, prep the outsoles, and sole the mules.

An easy style to start!

PLEASE SEND YOUR SHOE SIZE ahead of time.

All tools and supplies are included in the course.

If you prefer a high-heeled mule, please take a 3-day stiletto course, or book a private class. They cannot be finished in a one-long-day course.
